The recent hail storms in Sydney has caused havoc for the local community with hail bigger than golf balls causing damage to cars.
Specialist hail repair sites
IAG (Insurance Australia Group) has set up specialist hail repair sites across Sydney and the Central Coast to help assess and repair hail damaged vehicles.
IAG Executive manager for Motor vehicle assessing NSW, David Wilkes said “The aim is to have customers come in where we have specialist hail repairers, motor assessors, claim staff & glaziers work together”
Customers can come in to ask questions, order their parts in and schedule a time for the repair. Where possible, repairers are using paintless dent removal, to help get cars back to their original condition and on the road again faster.
What is paintless dent removal?
Paintless dent repair was first developed over 30 years ago in the 1980's, when prestige car makers were looking for ways to repair small dents that happened during manufacture and delivery of their upmarket cars.
There are a few different techniques, but they all involve levering or easing the dent back into its original shape. This gentle procedure means the dent can be removed without damaging the paintwork and without the need for a respray.
Paintless dent repair is best used for small dents such as those caused by hail damage, as it can repair minor bodywork damage.
